my friend is coming in to visit me, and she was going to stay at my house. At the last minute, I told her that we would have more room if we slept at my grandparent’s house and just hung out at my house during the day. She wanted to give a housewarming gift but she doesn’t know who to give it to– my parents or my grandparents? I’m not sure but I think that she gives US the gift, and it’s our responsibility to give a gift to my grandparents as a "thank you" gesture for hosting out guest. Am I right?

For those of you who answered my question yesterday about my friend moving out and her car- mom talked dad into signing it over on the condition that she puts it in her name before she moves out- they don’t want any liability of owning it and her not living there- so I guess that’s fair enough.
So she and my other friend are moving in together- they each have their bedroom sets but nothing else. They don’t have any bathroom/ kitchen/ living room stuff and don’t have much cash left over after first/last/security. I’m loaning them a couch that I’m not using until they buy their own- and if they end up keeping/ ruining it I don’t care because I got it for free, I don’t really like it, and I’m not using it anyways.
What would be appropriate for a housewarming gift for them? When my godson’s mom first moved out I got her toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags & towels- because well poor people really appreciate not having to choose between diapers and toilet paper- and to me, nothing says home like new fluffy towels instead of the ratty ones that are like 20 years old.
So- specific items, gift card, cash, other ideas?
If money wasn’t an issue, how much would you say is reasonable for a gift card?
